About us

echurch is the English version of an Afrikaans website (ekerk.co.za) created to serve people online. However, there’s more to echurch than a couple of websites. We try and have a profound impact on the ground in South Africa to serve the less fortunate and forgotten of our world. We also aid in the creation of new communities of followers of Jesus, especially to those who don’t particularly like church, and then we also serve others in the form of leadership training.

‘ekerk’ is Afrikaans for echurch, and Afrikaans is one of 11 official languages in South Africa. ‘ekerk’ is under the relational leadership of Stephan Joubert and a team of South African radicals.

The people who share their knowledge and insights here are, predominantly South African, followers of Jesus. Our goal is to share stories, insights and wisdom with Jesus, and following Him, as our core subject. Less church, less issues, more Jesus. And a bit about Africa…

Meet the crew… Stephan Joubert inspires and shares his vast knowledge — he’s the founder and main writer for echurch. Dries Lombaard heads up the content management and vision — he’s the editor. Dries Cronje looks after the technical stuff — he’s the webmaster.
